Migration:
Mary Dyer lived at home with her parents until she was 14 years old. Then she made her home with an invalid aunt. When she was 18, she moved with her aunt to Chicago, Illinois and then to Ogle County, Illinois; after her marriage in 1867 they lived in Baileyville, Ogle County, Illinois, where their three children were born. In 1877 they moved to Grundy County, Iowa, and sometime after 1894 to Cedar Falls, Iowa.

With her husband, Ransom, Mary Dyer Bailey was a strong church member. They belonged to Methodist congregations, especially in Cedar Falls.
